Galley of photos of Bushmills including the Alphabet Angel and statue of Robert Quigg VC.

Bushmills is a small town located in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is situated near the northern coast of the island, close to the Giant's Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its unique hexagonal basalt columns. The town of Bushmills is perhaps best known for the Old Bushmills Distillery, which is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in the world, dating back to 1608.

Bushmills has an interesting military history. One example is that of Robert Quigg born 1885. Quigg served in the 12th Battalion of the Royal Irish Rifles. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his “most conspicuous bravery at the Battle of the Somme”. Robert Quigg VC is buried in the nearby churchyard at Billy. A statue of Quigg was unveiled in Bushmills in 2016 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Alphabet Angel is another piece of notable public art in Bushmills. The sculpture by artist Ross Wilson is a celebration of the Ulster Scots / Scots Irish heritage. On the pathway leading to the sculpture is a poem written in Ulster Scots by poet James Fenton.
